I bought my 525d SE Auto, E60 a little over 12 months ago, it was first registered in September 2004 (54 plate for UK). Since then I have put almost 22,000 miles on it bringing the mileage to 73,000. I have kept the condition based servicing up to date and I will be replacing the front brake disks and pads this week.... the car runs very nice and must admit I love driving it but am concerned that the mileage is getting high and on that basis should I consider selling it?
I have heard these cars do 150,000 miles + and ideally I would like to keep it for another 3 or 4 years but am concerned that with the high mileage I might find myself paying out some large bills. I estimate that if I do keep the car it will have about 125,000 miles on the clock in about 4 years.
Any advice is most appreciated

I am in the exact same position. I have 80k miles and am recently out of CPO coverage. I had an indy shop look at the car before CPO ran out and it came back with a clean bill of health. But the fact that repairs can be so expensive has me thinking of selling while it's still in tip top shape.
I"m also curious what others think....cheaper to keep her, or wash my hands in good standing??

depends; if it has been good to you so far, why not keep it. If it has been sucking your money on repair bills then it's time to cut it lose and move on. Mine has 70K right now; had some engine rattling, turned out to be the tensioner pulley and water pump which I just finished replacing today. I told myself if after replacing the pump and it still makes that rattling noise, I'm gonna let it go ASAP before leading to other things. Fingers crossed...but so far it seems to be in working condition. Now need to do the transmission fluid then front bushings.
The problem with this mentality is you will end up keep losing money every time you switch car unless you decide to go with an Accord or Camry.

73k is nothing, personally I'd go with the above. If you're really worried about it, why not take out some kind of after market warranty. Research your choice of provider well though as some are better than others.
