Hi,
Before buying my car I would like to have found these real numbers on the net but i couldn't because they are not available (or are too hard to find).
From my experience, on my 525d e61, i got these numbers:
- Top speed on straight 225 km/h but very hard to reach. Once reached you it keeps at 220 with no problem
- Top speed down the hill 245km/h
- 0-100km/h 9.2s (average of 4 measurements)
- Consumption in real usage: Super saving: 7.0 l/100km Saving: 8.0 l/100km Normal driving: 8.7 l/100km
Some additional notes: if you have a 320d and change to a 525dA:
- don't expect to get much more performance. In day-to-day drive it is the same. Improvements are only visible on long trips. The car is superior by far, but for performance go for a 535d.
- expect a increase of about 20% in fuel consumption
Although it might not seem the case, i am very, very happy with my new car.
I tried MB E class Touring too. If you want space for luggage go for the MB. Otherwise, go for the 5 series. Between MB 220CDI or MB 270CDI go for the 220 for sure.
Bye!

However, 0-62mph is listed @ 8.5s - how are you measuring?

Really amateur: checked velocimeter precision with road signs & gps (1-2 km/h error) and then video with digital camera (like others did here at the forum) and basic computer analysis

is it hot at the moment in portugal? do you live far above sea level?... the hot tempature would make u use the air con which uses power, and the heat affects engine efficency. their ae lots of factors that affect performance.

Have you measured your times? Just pick the digital camera or phone and save a quick movie. Or do a chorno with your watch.
The thing that is puzzelling me the most is the 160km/h-200km/h feels too similar to my 320d (136hp model!!)... Attention: i am talking about feeling when driving, never measured or drove them side-by-side...
Has anyone else compared 320d vs 525d or 530d? Actually driving them, not only numbers.
See you!

i did manage to get about 7.8 0-60 once, but that was perfect conditions, bp performance fuel, flat road, cool breeze, dry. most the time i would say bmws figure of 8.3 is the norm. don't know about top speed u'd be mad to get near 140mph in this country on public roads
