Hi Guys,

Bought a May 2007 registered 525D M sport Auto today, i have sold my 320D Msport (2006) i wanted something Auto and 6 cylinder!!
I bought this car from auction, it was sold as a 2.5 litre car, but it has the facelift front, the newer style gear lever, LED rear lights.
It is registered as a 2.5 car, but i gave BMW the reg no and they say it is a 3.0!!!
I have done a bit of googling and the dipstick goes in the rear of the sump, not the front as the 2.5 litre engine looks like it does.
The car is 1 owner from new, and purchased in a BMW group sale, so its origins are pretty sound.
To me it looks like a numpty has filled in its reg doc from new wrong??

Engine no is 24426534 car manufactured in April 2007 by the date on the seat belts, can anyone help?

Oh, and hi i'm new here, who is the man to remap also

according to this link on wikipedia, both the 525d and 530d have the same 3 liter displacement (2,993 cc). BMW has also done this with the 3 liter gas engines, with the higher numbered ones tuned for a little more performance. I think you'll find this with the 325i and 330i, etc.

Pre LCI, upto 2007 525D are 2497cc engines, mine looks like the later model, as it has all the facelift features, just on paper it appears to have a 2.5 power unit.

me109 is correct all pre-LCI upto march/2007 are 2.5, then from march/2007 the displacement was increased to 3.0 and de-tuned.

If this is the case then you're quite lucky because you'll get cheaper car insurance
