Hey,
Long time lurker, first time poster.![Big Grin](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/biggrin.gif)
I bought a BMW 2006 523i (Pre LCI) model last year. And I have been inquiring about retrofitting AUX input in my car.
Contacted the local BMW service center. The price they quote are ridiculously high.
For the parts/labour/coding, the price they are quoting is EUR 358.
Is there anyone here from Germany (Frankfurt area) who can suggest someone who can do this cheaper.
Cheers.

Normalerweise würde ich deutsch mit dir reden, but this is an English forum.
You can purchase an AUX cable here on this forum for about $30, and then install it. Coding it can be pricy, and I would imagine your local shop/garage could do this fairly easily.

yes, that is all you need to do to code the car to recognize the auxillary input. if i recall correctly, there is another video showing how to access the CCC/MASK unit and install the auxillary input. it really is quite easy to do.
good luck

Here are the instructions straight from BMW:

and here is roskinc's youtube video:
Not sure if I'm crossing any lines here, but there's really no need for the OEM connector. You can definitely use the kits that are available on the internet and from members of this forum. I made my own from $6 of electronic store parts.
if you need a coding cable for your car, I'm very happy with the one I bought from BM Technic - all of the software is packaged with the cable. You just need a Microsoft XP computer.
$6 to build the cable, $95 for the cable, and a couple of hours of my time I have AUX capabilities in my early build E60. DIY is definitely the way to go if you feel comfortable doing it.
good luck with your car.

Yesterday, I had a chance to attempt the retrofit. It all went well. Opened up the trim, unpluged the main block (where I have to insert the aux pins). And to my surprise the C and D blocks were empty. Attached is a pic.
My question is , if I buy one of these, can i use just the quad lock with my existing AUX in cables. Will the quad lock fit in either block C or D.

The AUX In cable that i have is this one :
