I've tried to find an easy to install and free or cheap diagnostic sw for my 2008 face lift 520dA. Both K-line and ELM327 to USB wires I have. With Alfa I was used to AlfaDiag and FiatEcuScan, which are both very nice tools. I have installed INPA, which did not recognise facelift models and did not work. For Carsoft I've not found honestly free place to download.
Anyone found a cheap, easy to install diagnostic sw?

You run DCAN not KCAN. The right cable and software for all your BMW needs isn't as expensive as a trip to a dealer just to "diagnose" your vehicle.

I asked dealer to program my car's key to roll up windows and fold mirrors and they told me it's not possible. LOL. Then I asked them to program my car's fog lights to stay on when i put on high beams and they told me that's not possible either but they can program my key to memorize my seat settings and that will be about $60 to do. BLAH!

Of course I do not have DCAN I have KCAN (2004) so I got a different package but all the softwares have worked amazing. I've coded my car to read MP3, added professional navigation, Auxilary input for my iphone, coded my keys to turn on lights, unlock the car the way i want it and move the mirrors and seats. I can't say that I'm more pleased bro. Good luck.
