Nice info, thanks. I never thought about the holding the brake thing. My parking brake ratchet mechanism is stripped for the last few clicks so I can not engage it very tightly. So I get the first three notches then no notches after that. Yeah the car does have economy non-rfs on it maybe thats why its so bad, I do prefer a stiffer sidewall though I think thats why I like the runflats. For example when changing lanes at motorway speeds they feel solid and give less chassis movement in my opinion.

Do the brakes get more grabby after they are bedded in? My pedal is a bit on the soft side for comfort. I dont think my mechanic has BMW software so didnt do the ABS bleed. What is the simplest way to do an ABS bleed? I was looking at one of the foxtel things a while ago are they still good, or is there some fancy app nowdays?

Bleeding, bleeding, bleeding....I bleed the conventional way always and keep pushing it at least 10 times after all the bubbles are gone. Make sure after your nipple helper has closed the nipple to raise the pressure first before pushing the peddle to the metal.

Good tips. Im going to take it back for another bleed. To be honest at the moment I still prefer the diesel, moving off is effortless and I have nice torque in 2nd gear to punch out of corners. In the petrol I need to be high revs in 1st to have torque out of corners. Plus I am not revving the petrol out fully yet until I get new oil and coolant. I am really missing the diesel torque but am enjoying the nice metallic sound of the engine and the nice long rev range. I think I will try a e60 6-cylinder diesel at some point also.

A 530D compared to a 520D is a huge huge difference. I'm running a 550i which even has less torgue then the 530D,.. let alone the 535D

I didn't realise there was a v8 e60. Thats so cool, another engine for me to try. I need to try the v10 at some point also. Also want to try an audi-5cylinder and the gr-yaris 3pot and the honda s2000 4pot. My dream is to have the best engine for every cylinder number haha.

Well...if you have the time AND money to do so why not. i'm more then happy to run the E61 550i in pretty mint condition with fairly low mileage. Coming from an E34 M5 Touring, which was my back then dream car, II don't need another baby requiring all the TLC it deserves

I'm actually nearly broke after showing the 525 some love haha. I like to make small steps in cars. Started with Nissan Sunny, Mk2 Astra, Mk3 Golf, Mk2 Focus, e46 320d, e60 520d and now my 525i. I feel like I should try a 7 series but it would have to be an old one with a manual maybe an e38 v8.

And I'm not familiar with the diesel variant (being a USian) but there's probably a difference in the power / torque curve between the engines (the gas variant has more horsepower, but less torque than the diesel).
You were right about the clutch feel. The biting point is right at the top of the pedal which I was not used to. I think I was riding the clutch previously until I worked it out.

That appears to be not right. Biting / engaging the clutch should happen much earlier gradually increasing the bite while releasing the pedal. Could be a clutch disc on its way out. A simple clutch slip test is driving in 5-th or 6-th gear at around 3.000 RPM and then floor it. You will apply maximum torgue to the drivetrain and because its in a high gear the torgue will be applied a bit longer.
