Hey all,

I currently have a 520D M Sport and have been toying with the idea of changing. I understand a new model is out in September, does anyone have an idea what difference this will make to the trade in? Cant decide if I should trade now or leave for a while. I was thinking about a remap but the 530 / 535 looks very tempting...

Thanks,

I would have thought that the dealers are now trying to shift all their remaining "current" 520d stocks before the "new" 520d arrives, so cannot imaging that they would be overly keen to get another "current" one in. Buyers would probably tend to expect savings if going for a young "old" model instead of the latest model, so it may be more difficult for the dealer to shift it at the margin they would like. So I don't think it is necessarily the best time to trade it in, however if you are going to purchase a new 530/535, well its basically down to you to negotiate the best possible deal and squeeze the dealer for a deal you are comfortable with...

(I hear that voice inside you... "You know you want to -- buy the 535..." !! )

Those voices got louder and louder throughout the day until I could take it no more....test driving an '05 535d M Sport tomorrow . I can't believe that these have dropped so much in price from new. I was thinking about the 530d but there is not a huge difference in price and the spec (and performance) of the 535 seems to be a lot higher.

Now to sell this plan to the wife (that will be the hard part!)

wish I had the cash flow to trade in a relatively new car for a new one. Stand to lose lots of dinero on those kind of deals. Just my two cents worth.

The BMW MY '08 520d will give you a new engine and the same new autotrans that the E60's got in April.

But no need for change. You still have a fine car!

True it is a fine car, unfortunately I drove the 535D M Sport today and that is a very, very fine car. I'm not just talking about the power either, its just effortless to drive. Need to give some serious thought this weekend. Trade in is ok, probably what I was thinking only I'm looking at a more expensive car now

Watch this space. If I dont change then a remap will be done, ideally I'd like a 535 with a remap though...no pleasing some people!
