I just did a long trip and averaged 54mpg in my 520d. The fuel reserve gauge and the distanced travelled gave me a combined distance of 830 miles on a full tank. drove with a very light foot and didn't go over 66mph. did a trip the following day at 85mph on motorway and 60mph on trunk roads both hilly and averaged 40mph. The 520d improves as it lossens up, I've done over 9k now, but it's a dog in first gear especially when cold.

Wow that?s quite impressive ? agree about first gear and it being cold! (I really don?t like that first gear change with the auto when flooring it a bit. Guess I?ve got to get used to the ratio?s. -the auto isn?t as good as my previous Mercedes cars.)

I?ve been driving with a light foot and I?m seeing 40.3 mpg. But I?ve only done 1800 miles so far. Its loosened up a fair bit now, am I?ve very glad it has! Cant wait for it to improve further.

Just done a 300mile motorway run (85+ mph) and a fair bit of brisk town work, 44mpg (Checked by filing up and calculating fuel used against distance travelled) - 44mpg. Previous tank mainly short runs - 41mpg. Car is a 520d manual with 10,000 miles on th eclock

Okay, that's just nauseating. I am lucky if I get 15 with my 550.

My 520d manual has just covered 1k miles. With a light foot and cruising rather sedately i.e. 70-80 mph, I just got 53.3mpg (5.3L/100km) on a 100mile run. Normal running around I seem to be getting around 39mpg (7.3L/100km). This is good I feel for around town in a largish car. My previous vehicle would do about 22mpg (12.8L/100km) in the same conditions. For a comparison, my Wife's Audi A4 Avant 1.9TDi 130 which is considerably smaller and has now done 45k miles (72k km) does a little over 44mpg (6.4L/100km) under the same conditions.

Mines done 13k now, and I'm averaging just over 40 mpg - mainly motorway miles at 80- 85mph

BTW - K44ENT, I work in Rugby, where will you get your car serviced?

This week I got stuck in traffice jams a lot, boosting to a 7.7 l, but I have noticed that when filling up, there is a need for recalibration as I get 8.1 liter using the meter reading from the gas station

Mines been to the dealer a couple of times for a slight hesitation and wheel alignment, I have been using Sytners at Coventry (Was Godfrey Hall) and they have been spot on. I have spoke with Damon Hill at Warwick as we get all our company cars from them and they seem very helpful so would be happy to use either. Where do you work in Rugby then?
