520d - How many miles per tank are you getting?
#1
Just wondering how many miles out of a tank people are seeing.
Just running in mine at the moment so i expect it to improve.
I'm seeing around 500 miles per tank - mixed driving 70% motorway 30% Town.
Costs me just over ?60 to fill her up. Computer shows me an average of 33.5mpg.
My mk5 tdi could manage over 600 miles on ?45.
being careful i once saw 645. (was an effort though!)
(When running that in was only 420-440.)
Using better diesel makes a noticable difference.
Theres just no point using supermarket fuels.

Near 600 miles (running to virtually empty )
Computer showing 41.5 mpg average for the last 1000 miles I did however re-calibrate the mpg reading - It was previously around 5 mpg out when done manually.
Mine did around 32 mpg initially, but has now loosened up a little (5000 miles).

Its funny because 32MPG is what you should be getting out of a 525i Petrol and not a diesel. I am getting 21MPG out of my 525i and 26Mpg on motoway journeys

I get just over 600 miles to a tank
I am getting around 42mp combined with 50% motorway and 50% congested roads and town driving
I also recalibrfated the obc as it showed 35mpg but when brimming the tank and manually calculating gave 41.9mpg

How can you ask other people what they are getting??
Reset before last I did 3000 miles and got 34.8mpg from my 535d, then got my new tyres on and reset the OBC and since then I ahve only had some back road fun and in and out of the city, it is currently showing 22.9mpg. First day though and it was showing this....
The guy I sold our A6 avant to had a 525d auto, 18 months old with 60k miles on it (so lots of motorway driving) and he was averaging 33mpg and had never reset the computer. So I would say your figure is about right.
When you get to this size car there is not alot between going for a 523i, 525i, 530i or 550i, same with the 525d, 530d and 535d. If you only crusie at 70mph all day you may see a difference but if you do any sort of stop start driving, and that includes roundabouts on dual carrigeways these heavy cars like to drink.
I can get nearly the same figures in an M3 round town, much lighter car.
No point asking others what they get though.

Check http://forums.e60.net/index.php?show...5&hl=calibrate to recalibrate mpg function - you need to unlock the hidden menus using menu 19, then recalibrate at menu 20. I was nervous about it initially but it's actually fairly straightforward.
