I have an e60 520d. My brother has an e61 520d. We've both found the performance of both cars to be exceptionally good and difficult to critiscise. Yes it is ONLY a 2.0d, but the more I drive it the more I wonder why I would need anymore.

Also, when comparing to a CLK200 the 520d is going to feel very different - the CLK is based on the C-Class platform and therefore is more comparable to a 320.

Well since this is my first own automatic gearbox i also slightly have the thoughts my last car (a 530d) was faster. But i think that is because you more have the feeling you drive sportier.

The automatic box just gears like you don't feel it and so you don't really have the feeling you drive fast (or accelerate fast).

I also find it strange that when you get near the kickdown, it looks like the automatic box is shifting too late (i mean, the revs are going really high, even when you just want to drive 'sportier').

But hey, i really like the E60
