 hi.today after 2000km i start pushing 520d motor and i find it was a litle slow for my expectations.i was driving in drive position maybe on drive sport its better.i hope.Does any one share my opinion
I feel the same way - not really impressed, my clk200 conv. feels alot quicker but i guess it isnt -looking at the stats.
Not too impressed with the handling either - thought it would be sharper. (at high speeds) should have got the sports suspension but was told it was too hard for my liking.

My Ride: 2005 520d M Sport Titanium Silver, 6-speed Manual, new style Start/Stop ignition, Black Dakota Leather, bluetooth, Nav via Tomtom One on a brodit dashmount
I have the 520d M Sport manual and I find it quite punchy and enjoyable to drive, I had a golf vr6 before and I dont find the 520d a big step down in power
It isn't the fastest car on the block but it certainly isn't slow unless you compare it with a 530d, or in the case of our american friends a 550i.
And regarding the handling I have the M Sport pack as I didnt think it was as hard as everyone makes out and it does tighten up the road control

My e60 520d manual has plenty of punch.
However, with only 1700km on the clock i think you may need to have a little patience until it loosens up some more. Auto box will make it less lively though.

If it really is too slow....simple job to get the engine management remapped...have a look at www.dmsautomotive.com/index.asp?upid=21&msid=3
Not sure if DMS have a rep in Portugal, but I'm sure if not then there will be others offering a similar software upgrade.
On a 120d, it makes a big difference, acceleration becomes very impressive and fuel economy improved!

I just passed the 2222 km mark on my 520d steptronic (sedan), and noticed that in D, the gear change happens already at 3500 rpm when being pushed, in D/S this gear change happens more at 4500 rpm when being pushed at that makes a real noticable difference.
But the additional weight of an estate will remain a (small) disadvantage.
But power is not everything, the driver skills can make up for a lot, and for this I just have to think back at Top Gear where a minivan did the Nurnburgring in just above 10 minutes
So keep it floored
