Default 520D, both doors open warning

BMW 520D 2006 MOD M47
Hi guys,
I have been searching for hours for this error, both on the internet and diagnostics on the car. I cannot figure out where the fault is.

So, all of a sudden the alarm goes off after I locked my car a late winter night. I disconnected the battery and locked the car manually.
The next day I get the door open warning on both sides, but only the front doors. In the Service menu, I can see both warnings Come and go all the time. This is still the issue. No consistency.

I decided to disconnect the doors, but the warning still occures. I had no error messages on the diagnostics.
I have changed the battery.

I suspect it’s a wiring issue, or grounding, but after an hour of searching through internet I think that the door module is inside the door which is disconnected(?), so it should not even be active.

Sometimes the errors occures once in 2 hours, sometimes it’s constantly beeping.

I need help, guys, and Thanks for reading my post.

Best regards, Petter

It would be best to read the BMW codes, or else you'll just be chasing ghosts.

Thanks for replying. By reading BMW codes, you mean taking a diagnostics of the car and reading the error messages?
I have been connecting a computer to the car (my friend's a mechanic) and there was no errors that could have an impact on these kinds of errors...

That's because the problem is intermittent.

In such cases, you'll need to repeatedly read the codes or read them live, in order to catch the fault code.

Also, what did you mean by, you "decided to disconnect the doors"?

Yeah, we didn't try that actually... Why didn't we think of that..
Will definitely try to do live readings.

And by disconnecting the doors, I meant I removed the contact between the door and the car itself. I could practically remove the bolts to remove the door, but didn't do that

If you disconnect the door latch assembly, you'll still have a door fault, just not the exact same fault.

I highly doubt both doors failed at the same time though. You most likely have an intermittent module.

Yes, I'll still have a door fault, but the weird thing is that it still beeped and showed the "Door open" warning in the iDrive menu. And the light in the car got turned on.
So the fault is the same, plus many more (airbag, door disconnected etc...)
The dealership said the same, they highly doubted that both doors failed at the same time. I will try to connect the computer while driving and see what happens!

Have you tried disconnecting the IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor)?
