I bought the 2013 OEM disk from the dealership and now no navi problems.
I've also had problems with Nav discs that were copies. Putting the original back in or a newly burned copy fixed the iDrive issues I was seeing - slow to boot, rebooting randomly and some others.

The battery has never been replaced the car is a 08 e60 if another problem is found beside the battery being old...causing the error it will be covered under C.P.O if not i will have to pay for the test..or just don't do the test but if the error shows up again i will have to pay for them to do the test when i bring it back in plus a 50 dollar C.P.O deductable for a leaking windshield washer motor they have to replace which makes a grand total of $850 with out tax they asked if i had any aftermarket stuff in the car..i do have a HID Fog light kit i said its about 6 monts old i told them.... Just wanted to know what you guys taught about this any suggestions etc...
If I'm you, heading down to pepp boys for a $100 Bosch battery and no test. Calling and saying give me my car back with enough charge to get home.

Go from there.

My dealer had my car in for a recall item and spotted my unregistered Bosch. He said it likely caused a number of electrical error messages and that I should throw a $500 mat glass bmw battery in. I said thanks, this is interesting and where are my keys.

1 year later no problem. I'm sure the errors are now in millions and my idrive will explode this year because of it. But until then, I'm not blaming myself.

Sucks. What about the two bad cells story?

It may sound silly but I had little problem after little problem ($200 here, $1200 there). When the battery in my 05 545i started to have problems I finally just traded the car in for something else. I couldn't stomach having the car nickle and dime me with hundred dollar bills anymore. Man I miss that car. I sold that car for a loss and was happier than I was the day I bought it, though. It sure was fun to drive but I'm glad to be back in something reliable that doesn't cost a fortune to drive.

$50 deductible to replace a leaking windshield washer pump?

That part alone, which fails too often because of shoddy manufacturing, is less than $50 brand new. Not to mention it is super easy to replace.

If it's CPO, they should be replacing that for free.

Thanks so much for referring an excellent product. I bought it in an instant and plugged it in to my 2007 E60 which is running original battery (just turned 6yrs old). Haven't had a problem with battery per-se, but dealer had told me to replace battery about 2 months back. I am seeing the following reading and want to understand a bit more:
when car is not running, but is ON, the meter shows 11.9V and LED is RED. When car is running, meter shows 14.5, and LED is GREEN. It looks like battery is not holding a good charge, but alternator is good - charging well. How bad is the battery charge level with the 11.9v display? Time to change ASAP or 6-months later?

Appreciate some thoughts on this.
thanks

Fully charged battery will read 12.6V
At 11.9V, at minimum, that battery needs to be charged (on a trickle charger).

I'd recommend you to first charge the battery fully and plan to replace the battery at your convenience (during the next few months).

What happens if I don't trickle charge it - but hope that it gets charged when I drive it (about 35miles a day)? Will it damage any electronics items?

thanks a lot
