1. "But, all, please remember that I am not declaring a winner for my car (or any other 545i) versus any 550i. We still have much to learn about the 550i's."
2. "I don't think we will ever know much about relative quickness of the two cars, however, unless some of
us start testing 550i's. Same with SMG's and manuals versus Steps. I don't think the magazines are likely to provide as good an answer as we could through conscientious testing.

All I want to see is a 550i race against a 545i. variation of step vs SMG and see how things turn out.
Step 545 vs step 550
Step 545 vs smg 550
smg 545 vs step 550
smg 545 vs smg 550
6 spd manual would be nice to see a comparison but those are the 4 races i REALLY want to see.

Znod, I will be in Phoenix this sunday for Business..so if you want to lend me your device I will do some runs and return it to you via mail.. what do you think?

I can't be without my device for that long. So, sorry DJ. Nice try though.
Are you really going to be here on Sunday? If do, then PM me if I can point you in any right directions. We have out of town guests (family) this weekend or perhaps we could have met.

Ya there are too many variables but it gives us some type of scale to go by... its somthing to compare... somthing is better than nothing in my book.

Yeah, but I don't think he meant the Z06. And, right, you almost talked me into it.

depends on your definition of "almost"

Hi All:
I have adopted a modified method of identifying my best passes. It applies to cars like ours that have computer controlled management systems that adjust engine settings for changes in weather. If you want more information about my rationale, then check out post #363 here. I have updated my pass results in post #1 of this thread for use of the new method. My overall results are better under the new method, but the extremes are not as extreme as before. Thus, slightly more conservative results are shown in post #1 for my best passes.

Hi All:
I have updated grogan545's test data in post #1 of this thread. His two bests to date are outstanding. His results now are posted consistently with the 42% method mentioned in the prior thread. All 550i's watch out for the g-man!

I have updated post #1 on this thread for new data from grogan545 and I and for a change in our method of reporting data. See post #376 on this thread. I also have updated #1 for some new 545i performance data provided by needforspeed.

Hi All:
I have added cobradav's great results to post #1 of this thread. Also, I have updated grogan545's and my results to 4/10/06. The results for the 3 of us are 100% corrected for weather to an altitude of 500'. I think we have decided that 100% weather correction is likely to be best--although I am more certain about the appropriateness of this method for my car than for the others.
