Congratulations on the car dude!

I have a pre-LCI (06) 530d in the same colour with the same wheels. A month into ownership and I still smile everytime I see it lol

What did that set you back if you don't mind me asking?

I am looking forward to it!https://5series.net/forums/public/st...ault/hyper.gif

The car was £25k (give or take) with all the options above. I wanted an LCI car and you are looking at this price to start with for something decent -there are some around for less, but they have the cloth interior, not satnav and no Xenon's. for a car of this calibre , they are essential!

The only things I need to do now is have the rear windows tinted (and fronts as far as legally possible) and (wait for the abuse!) a tow-bar fitted! (please note, this also helps against being rear ended - this happened in my 525d and the stopped all damage to my car!)

and now for the torrents of abuse... https://5series.net/forums/public/st...ault/twoup.gif

I now own and drive a 535d, and had the most enjoyable ride home https://5series.net/forums/public/st...ault/twoup.gif

but, what a crap day getting it! it was promised to be ready before 4pm, but at 2:30, i get a call stating that there is a problem with the iPod installation. Turns out that as part of the installation and re-coding of the car they perform a system upgrade https://5series.net/forums/public/st...ault/twoup.gif but a control module failed and had to be replaced . Now, i live about 3 hours away from this dealer, left home at 5:30am (work) and was understandably not happyhttps://5series.net/forums/public/st...fault/fcuk.gif . Lots of too'ing and fro'ing and i finally get the car 4 1/2 hours later - i was climbing the walls with boredom at that point!

Anyhow, i get the car (reset the gearbox) and take a nice casual drive in Friday, south London traffic and heavy motorway traffic to my parents. I average 36mpg with mostly sensible driving and a few stabs at the silly pedal.https://5series.net/forums/public/st...ault/twoup.gif

<next half hour omitted for understandable reasonshttps://5series.net/forums/public/st.../whistling.gif >

Later that evening I took a sensible drive home at around 80mph as i was fairly tired and over the 2hour motorway/a road mix i averaged 42-43mpg ? therefore as a sensible drive i am very, very impressed with the car!https://5series.net/forums/public/st...t/laughing.gif

Of course i am not going to spend the first day plodding around... late at night on a dual carriage way with no traffic i press the ?Sport? button, move the stick to ?DS? and plant the silly pedal ? hard. I cannot stop smiling as the car hurtles to <ahem, 70mphhttps://5series.net/forums/public/st...t/innocent.gif >.

What a car!

Anyway, to sum up ? omg, omg, omg, omg, omg, omg, omg, omg, omg, omg!

Congrats on the new car.

Glad to see you are enjoying the new motor.

Ive got one and know how you are feeling at the moment. I came from a 530d manual, and wasn't sure about the slush box. But its very flexible, great for pootling around and if you are in the mood for pressing on. I am particularly impressed with the manual mode. I had my gear lever swapped out recently as it was a bit sticky and its really improved the feel of the box.Second to third is very smooth now, it was clunky before, so I'm dead happy.

Gotta love the torque with these cars. Great fun, enjoy!
