Hi All,

Well, i am finally doing it... i am coming back to the E60 world after many, many months!

I had the 525d before, but am now going to get a 535d!

My question is however; is the post 2007 facelift model a better drive? how does the new auto box differ when driving normally? I can either spend my money on a pre facelift model with all the gadgets or a newer post facelift which drives better - what do i do?

Regards
Darron

Excellent. 535d is a torque monster. I sure do wish we had them here in the US.

Yea, just test drove a pre facelift 535d (or should i say pre-LCI?) and it was deceptively fast! Still felt the auto could be better tho... hence the question about differences on the drive between the new and old gearbox!

Its done! I have signed for it, paid the deposit and now have to wait until Friday or Monday/Tuesday for the iPod interface to be installed and I can collect it!
5 Series... i'm coming back-media.jpg

Its an LCI 535d with all the bits I was after and some more I wasn't looking for!
Lets see... Elec Memory Seats, Sports Tiptronic, Media Pack, Visibility pack, iPod interface, Sat Nav, Cruse with Braking, and one very (soon to be) happy owner! Oh, and no Runflats!!!

Now I am itching to get the bl**dy thing!

Congrats D, welcome back. The F10 didn't cross your mind?

I spent 2 hours at the dealer with lots of the sales rep 'talking to his boss' so had plenty of time to look at the latest offerings. I like it (only see the SE version, however) and when it comes to looking at a replacement then it will be seriously considered! (co-insides with a 2nd hand car price, rather than new!!!)

Any news on the 35d engine? there was nothing about it on the brochure but all other engine options were there, and the sales rep new nothing.

A little off topic, but one thing i like about the e60 is the minimal number of buttons. The F10 seems to have grown many more! admittedly it was a showroom model with all the toys, but even the iDrive had another 7 or so buttons, the wheel had another few either side. I like the minimal approach of the current one.
