My Ride: 2010 E63 AMG -- Palladium Silver/Black.
Love this car but looking to switch things up to keep things fresh. 2nd AMG in a row, but toying with coming back into the BMW fold!
You know it is in the works...but the question is when. My 545i lease is up 4/18/08 and I need to start making my future plans. Would hate to jump now to only find out that it is coming a few months later. Does anyone have any insight on the following combinations? Are they coming and if so, WHEN?
M3 sedan with Semi-automatic.
X5 with V8 Twin Turbo or 6cyl. with Twin turbo
5 Series with V8 Twin Turbo
M3 sedan with Semi-automatic.
X5 with V8 Twin Turbo or 6cyl. with Twin turbo
5 Series with V8 Twin Turbo

I don't think we know when the new 8 will be in the 5 , but it will be in the X6 and the I6 tt will be in the X5.... there are lots of posts here and a few press releases that you should research which may shed some light on your question.

Ohhh, good questions ... and we only have bad guesses at this point on the timing of these. So here goes ...
I expect that the we won't see the M DCT (dual-clutch tranny) in the M3 until Spring 2009 ... but we could know more when BMW shows off the M3 sedan at the Detroit Auto Show this month.
Next up for the X5 is the new 3.0 liter inline-six cylinder diesel engine with twin turbos (265 hp & 425 lb-ft of torque) - available in late 2008. Dunno about plans to use either the twin-turbo V-8 or inline 6 twin-turbo petrol engines, but the X5 engines have always been somewhat different than their sedan counterparts - and the standard engines were just updated in the new X5.
And the really key question ... what about the new twin-turbo V-8 in the E60? I'm gonna guess not until the F10. But ... this engine will be in the X6, and very likely in the next generation 7 series (Fall 2008?). And if BMW gets aggressive with the current M5 and upgrades that engine (as rumored) - there may be room to plop the tt V-8 into the E60 for its final two model years. Hope, pray, hope, pray .... But not likely.

I'm sitting here doing the wait on the V8tt in the 6er. The moment I hear it is planned that will be the next one I get. I don't care if it is in old e63 or new F12, it's MINE.

My dealer tells me that it won't be in the 5 till the F10, they are going to give it to the X6 exclusively this year, he also told me that they have'nt decided to put it in the new 7 when it's relaunched next year. He sits on the BMW product planning committee and tends to get the inside scoop........... he's been spot on so far.

I may need to re-lease the 545i, I guess for the time being. Thanks for the input.

Will BMW offer a AWD 5 series with the 4.4L V8 twin turbo?
What transmissions will be offered in the above configuration?
Can the auto version(s) be shifted via the center console?
What will be the name for this model? (555xi?)
I have driven the RS4 and 911 turbo and think they are both excellent daily drivers for those who have to deal with the cold/wet months.
However, the lack of an automatic transmission (RS4) and lack of space (911 turbo), ruled out both cars for me.
The 535xi is great, but does not have enough performance for me.
I found the 3 series to be to small for my needs.
I think a 555xi? would be the ultimate daily driver for all people in all climates in my humble opinion.
If they BMW builds this car, I will trade my G35x for it.

like sapkan, im told the new DCT gear will begin production in march or at the latest april this year, there are some who think it will be on the option list as soon as week 6....
im not really sure about the US m3 sedan release, it is expected to roll out much later in the 2nd half of the year...
but still i think that as soon as the DCT gear is out they will be pushing for the sedan...
