4f85 and 4f8a. Valvebody or input shaft?
2005 530i with 6hp19 @ 166k miles. Car recently began to throw codes while driving hard after transmission is at operating temp. Have has the 2-1 bump for a while on decel but now it has issues going from 4-5, it feels like it misses and then goes into limp mode. I asked a couple of pros and one said it's most liekly the input shaft bearing, the other said it could be input shaft bearing or valvebody, as either could cause this.
Anyone here have the same issue that was fixed by just replacing the valvebody and not paying thousands to have the transmission removed and repaired? It's just a weekend toy that I use to mess around with but I don't want it to rot away. =(

This has been covered and can be done with less than $1000. Go to the DIY section and search. There are many ways people fixed the same issue you can choose one.

Well I know it has been done at least twice. I’ve only owned it for a year but I have service records that show the first long term owner had everything changed.
