Unless there is something Im unaware of, can I just buy the plugs from the dealer and take them to my mechanic to replace or is there more to it with the 530?

Any recommendations for brand of plugs?

Cheers

$320 for 6 spark plugs only??? that is nuts!

It can be DIY! and it is very easy!

You can buy spark plugs OEM NGK or BOSCH in any car shop. I have Pulstars Plugs installed on my 545i. (They are great. Just IMO).

GL!

Is your car still under the service warranty? or CPO'ed?

Out of warranty, 92k so I'd like to change the plugs, Im getting a little hesitation on full throttle and gas mileage has slipped a tiny bit. I figured it cant hurt to change the plugs - then I got the dealer quote!

Ok, buy the plugs then bring them to your mech (not at dealer!, they will charge you $130 per labour-hour.. they will say you for 2 hours for sure... to replace can be done in less of 30 minutes for 6 cylinders by any good mech.

If you are out of warranty, just take it to a mechanic you trust.

Replacing parts until you cure a performance problem can be very expensive. Though, at 90k+ miles it's time for a change anyway. On previous models, coils and oil leaks around plugs were also problematic - don't know how that plays on e60's?
