[quote name='m630' date='Jun 27 2005, 12:25 PM']i actually think this feature is counter-intuitive as you still need to put the access card into the dash...
but it is just a marketing gimmick with no real added value over a conventional key/ignition lock system.

Having owned a few 3 series I can tell you the quality of the apointments on the 5 are of much higher quality.

The 3 may have the new start PB , the 5 will also, but I hardly can say I miss it on my 2004 .

The 5 is head and sholders ahead of the 3 in quality , but the 3's sure a blast to drive.

At this point, I don't view having to put a key into the steering column and turn it an "inconvenience." Maybe 5 years from now I'll say, "Gee how did I ever live without this" like I now say about an ice maker in my fridge, garage door openers, and a lawn service to cut the grass

Plus it's not like even Comfort Access is some huge luxury innovation -- it's been on the Toyota Prius for 2 years now.

Wow...I like the new key on the 3 series...however.....there is no way u can compete a 3 series against a 5....and i'll take the bigger brother anytime.
But that feature is neat IMO.

I Agree, my wife?s ?15,000 Renault scenic has keyless entry & ignition, it's great, along with auto lights & wipers real fly n' forget ! Not the preserve of the luxury end at all, BMW are just being tight. . Okay so I accept that the handling of the scenic isn't great

Just checked out my buddy's brand new 06 3-Series and for a key, he has a cartridge that looks like a standard alarm remote which is inserted into a slot (much like a key).? On top of that, it has a really trick feature: push button ignition!!!? What gives...I spend almost $60K for my 06 530i and I get a standard turn-key system and he spends $37K and gets this!?!?? How does that make sense?!?? Okay, I'll stop whining now...

I don?t understand comfort access, it isn?t hard to do it with the key and I?m lazy and like new things, but that

I want a real comfort access when you can start the car with the remotekey (steptronic needed I suppose) so you can let the car go on MAX air condition for a while before you step in to an otherwise hot car. And in the winter to get the windows icefree faster.

E60 has many aspects that make the E60 an E60. Comfort access is a nice thing to have since more luxury and sports sedans are going to incorporate that into their cars in the next 2 - 3 yrs. Being that BMW is a trend setter, it would be nice to see these kind of things in them, but of course Mercedes beats out BMW in many luxury options. Comfort access was avialable on the S-class 3 yrs ago though
