I just got a phone call from my dealer while doing some other work on the car (545i non sport) they noticed 3 bent rims! They want $1050 + $250 labor to replace them.
Here?s my questions:
1. Is this abnormal? I mean the car is only has 8,000 miles on it ?and while I do live in Manhattan and there are tons of pot-holes, I have never had this issue before with any other car I have owned.
2. Is this the going price for rims?
3. If I have to get new rims should I look at after market options?
Thanks for your help

Get a 2nd opinion from an independent tire repair shop about the rims being bent!
Those prices seem too high man! The styling 116 rims can be had for $255 each at www.bmwwheels.com!
$250 labor?

I think the price is right for three OEMs. I paid more than that per wheel for four 124s. You may be able to get something similar cheaper. What's so great about OEMs anyway if they can't take the gaff.

Sorry jzerden for the off subject post to JDN above. I think a second opinion is in order concerning the need to replace your wheels. The price quoted for 3 rims does not sound too bad. $250 to remouint three wheels sounds high. If you have to replace 3 rims, surely consideration for after market wheels is in order. There are some great looking wheels out there.

This is normal for these wheels and might be aggrevated by the runflats. Just find an independent performance BMW or tire shop and they usually can straighten the rims. In the future really watch for potholes and curbs.
While BMW engineering is excellent the parts they are made of were produced by the lowest bidder.... Some of the 545 wheels have actually broken....

Something is wrong. I think BMW has a problem with these wheels. Contact BMWNA and see what they say.

JDN, I just listened to your "remus idling" and "remus varoom" files. Sounds great. Did you replace your stock exhaust? If so, does the increased rumble bother you at all. I have often considered an after market exhaust but have been too scared to do it. I have a friend that put an after market exhaust on his suburban and the deep muffle sound within the interior is very deep and irritating, almost nauseating.
Thanks
