My Ride: 2005 545i Dinan S Package
![Default](https://5series.net/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif)
Im in the process of buying new tires for some 19inch oem 645i style 121 rims. They're going on my 05 545i sport. I read here, they will just mount with no problems. But I read at bimmerfest that 275/35's will rub, that I should go with 275/30's
Could someone confirm this? I'm about to pull the trigger on some Michelin PS2 and need to know before I do.
Thanks gents.

245/35/19 and 275/30/19 are the recommended tire sizes for 19" wheels.

i've wondered this but havent really found the answer...
why use 245/35/19 in the front and 275/30/19 in the back... why not just use 35's for the front and back??.... or both 30's

It is recommend to keep the same rolling diameter as the stock tire sizes or stay within 3%. Anything above 3% can cause problems. 275/35/19 is greater than 3% of the stock rolling diameter. Tire Rack will tell you the same thing.

I got 245/35/19 in the front and 285/30/19 at the rear. Iam not sure but I think they put 35's in the front to give the car a little more traction ? I also see these kind of setups on allot of sports cars.
Did you need to add a spacer to fit the 285/30 in the back?

second number is a percentage, not an absolute #. ie the sidewall height is 35% of 245mm, or 245*.35=85.75mm. that's why the rear is a smaller percentage, since it's wider: 275*.30=82.5mm, a fraction smaller but not enough to trigger the ABS. 275*.35=96.25, considerably taller .
