Not too much traffic on this topic, but has anyone gotten email to work through BMW Assist in their 2010 5? I am trying to figure out why it is not working and any information would be helpful. See attached pics for reference in iDrive.

IMG_0647.jpg is the menu option that leads to the IMG_0734.jpg

I've tried many times to enter my yahoo or gmail username / password, but it always comes back and says the entry is invalid...

It sounds like you may need to register and/or activate your BMW Assist.

When I picked up my car I received a BMW assist package that had a "Subscriber Agreement Contract" in it. The contract shows an email address.

I also had to activate the BMW Assist by hitting the SOS button and going through an activation process.

After doing that, I don't see the screens you are showing and I don't have to enter my email address or password. I can select BMW Assist and messages and see all of the messages which includes destinations that I sent to the car using Google maps, a very cool feature.

Thanks for the reply... I have the upgraded concierge pkg on BMW Assist. You can get to general stock info, local weather and best of all, search for places using Google. However, once you have the upgraded service activated and it logs in on your iDrive, you hit the options button and you will see 'authentication' per the first photo, then you will see the screen on the second photo. And, yes... while you use your email address to have google maps info sent to your car (which is cool), they don't give you a password. From what I understand from other threads, you should be able to see your email and contacts from web mail services such as Yahoo! or gmail...

Glad someone else noticed this. I noticed this menu last week after I signed up for the BMW Assist Convenience Plan. I called BMW assist to ask them how to configure the User Identification option and they had no clue what I was talking about. The customer service person said that it must be a new option that hasn't completely rolled out yet, but he wasn't really sure.

That is the same response I received when I called to ask... They don't know much about the iDrive functionality... I think they are there mainly for emergencies, general questions and concierge services...
