2010 BMW 528XI Trunk Problem

For a few weeks now I've noticed I keep getting a "trunk open" warning but my trunk is fully closed. The key fob button for the trunk does nothing and so does the trunk button above the obd port. I tried to bare with it but the dinging noise every ten seconds while driving is now irritating.

I noticed in the trunk there seems to be a disconnected wire and I've been looking everywhere to see where I could plug it back in, maybe you guys can help.

Can't see what area you are at. I would say these cars many plugs that have no where to go because the option was not purchased or it was used for transport. If you want you can posta picture from further away so we can get a general location of where the plug is you're trying to show us

Could be the infamous wiring loom issue, or the trunk latch is going faulty. You can try unplugging it, but if you don't have a mechanical cylinder, you might not be able to re-open the trunk afterward.

That connector is most likely for some option. If that had anything to do with the issue, it would not be intermittent.

That's the plug for the interior trunk light. I just checked the connection for it and looks exactly like mine - 2009 model

Luggage compartment light wiring is RT/GN and BN/GN. The lock is BN/GN. The only thing the wiring schematics is showing with a RT/GE wire is the towing option connecting to the junction box and CAN2 but that is a one wire connection unless the second wire is just there for termination.
