Default 2010 535i Ipod Connection

Hi all, i have a 2010 535xi with navigation. The car has 2 usb ports. one inside the center console, the other inside the glove box to the left. The usb inside the console will recognize regular usb drive with mp3 files, but it won't recognize iphone 4s or ipod classic (30gb gen 5)

The usb inside the globe box will recognize both usb drive and the ipod classic, but only under the file transfer/ back up mode. It won't do playback at all.

Does anyone know if there's a special module needed to enable iphone/ ipod playback?

If so, which module is it? and how do I install it?

Much obliged!

Any BMW built prior to Sept 2010 requires a Y-cable (Aux + US. Post Sept 2010 can use a standard USB cable.
