Hi all,
Searched the forums but couldn't find an answer to my issue.
So as mentioned in the title, sometimes the car does not want to start. So far I have replaced the starter and the battery as well. Checked the grounding strap by connecting the negative terminal to the engine, but same issue. Disconnected the IBS - still the same thing. ISTA shows the following errors:
00A0A9 CAS: Control-unit fault
00A0B4 CAS: Engine start, starter operation
00A0BE CAS: Terminal 15 output 1
00A0BF CAS: Terminal 15 output 2
00A0C0 CAS: Terminal 15 output 3
009CC5 LM: No message, LIN (RLS)
002ACA DME: Terminal 15-3, line from CAS: electric
I'm thinking it's probably the CAS module
but wanted to confirm before I send it in for diagnostics.
When I look at the CAS live data with ignition on, terminal 15 jumps from ~12.3v down to 0v and the terminal 15 relay in the power distribution box in the trunk makes a clicking noise. Could it be the relay itself? Unfortunately it's soldered to the board so no easy way to replace it.
Another thing I noticed is that most of the time I have to hold down the start button for the engine to start - before it was only a single press and the engine fired right up. When the car doesn't start, the starter only makes a clicking noise and I have to press the start button multiple times hoping it'll start. So far it hasn't left me stranded, but definitely something that needs to be fixed. Hoping for suggestions what to try next and any ideas I should try. Thanks!

check the under hood jump start terminal and positive cable connection bolt for tight
check the ground strap...right side, underneath engine to just aft of the wheel well
check the positive cable connection from the battery in the trunk under the carpet
