My Ride: 2009 550i sports, Nav, logic Best E60 yet
2004 545i, sports pkg, logic 7 steptronic, rear shade, orient blue with beige interior, blue tooth enabled Razer Phone. 2004 X5 3.0, sports pkg, stepronic, summer pkg. imola red.
2006 Mini Cooper S, manual, sports, prem pkg, nav and kitchen sink.
Hi all,
Currently my 2007 550i has 34,000 miles on her, my lease is not up till June 2009, since I'm almost at my alloted milage, I have to make a decision.
1.I could buy additional miles at .09 cents per and just keep the car till June, the way I drive, it might cost me $1,000 which is not to bad, however I most likely would have to put another set of R/F tires on.
2. Make a deal on a 2008 left over if I could find one well equipted.
3. Make a deal on a 2009 model.
My question are what changes have been made on 2008 and 2009 E60 verses the 07, 550i, I had an 04 545i and the differences between that car and my current 550 were major IMO.
I had hoped the F10 would have been out, but the release date keeps changing, at best we're looking at two years, and I really love the E60, best car I have ever owned.
Please let me know thoughts

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
Significant changes from 2008 on. The $1000 for additional mileage will be cheap compared to trying to return your car early.

I am in a similar situation but my lease is up and I have to make a decision next week.
Now, 2008 550 has significant improvements over 2007. Updated body with air-dynamic package, improved interior, faster iDrive, sport auto transmission, updated suspension with 19 inch wheels and non-run-flat tires. It drives somewhat better than 2007 with better steering feel (non-AS) but does not feel much faster. You should be able to find a great deal on a left-over 2008 but finding one with good options set is almost impossible at this time.
2009s are going to get improved iDrive interface and that's about it. If you are not flexible when it comes to options ordering on is the way to go.
Financially though, it is buying more miles for your 2007 that makes the most sense.

The new 7er is first coming out now and the 5er is close to two years behind in the model cycle.

I appreciate all the input, of course I know the most sensible thing to do is keep my car and pay for the additional miles, and most likely another set of R/F tires, ouch......
Thanks
Thanks

I thought everyone knew that. A few members here were waiting for their cars and pushed back their orders to get the new iDrive.....
