Fellas, Just got in my car after work and noticed a really strange muffled sound after about 5 minn of driving Popped the hood and realized that the fan was running super fast and hard.This e60 has been solid till now and has 51k on the dash , no heat or ac was running and its about 50 degrees here in MD I got the dreaded engine too hot i drive message followed by engine is overheating msg. Pulled car over and let it cool down as i was 4 blockes from my house. Im thinking this could be one of several things
#1- high pressure fuel pump ( not sure if it was changed )
#2- water pump ( I feel like this is the culprit)
#3- Thermostat
any one had a similar issue ? any insight or thoughts are welcomed

 

electric water pump on your car right? thats probably the culprit.
