Default 2009 528i XDrive hesitates and loses power

Hi
My 2009 528i has recently running rough especially when cold and going up hills. It loses power skips and the engine light comes on. It eventually goes off and runs smooth but this is happening more frequently. Has this happened to anyone else and how did you fix this issue. Thanks in advance

Have you checked for codes using the OBD2 port and a code reader that will read BMW specific error codes, not a generic code reader as AutoZone and other parts houses use. Or use one of the specific BMW software packages on a laptop.

Could be any number of things, plugs, coils are the first 2 to come to mind.

Having the same problem right now, car hasitates and misfires when accelerating from a light. The check engine light said camshaft sensor, changed that then the light read the other camshaft sensor, both sensors didn't solve the problem, also cleanedthe MAF sensor. Next thing is to change the spark plugs or test the ignition coils. Hope we can find what's wrong with this car

Problem fixed, it was the spark plugs, wasted all that money on cam sensors the OBD said was the culprit.
