My Ride: 2008 550i

I recently bought a 2008 550i. The seller did not have the navigation DVDs. I bought a set of the 2015 nav DVDs ($150) from ECS Tuning, so I know they are good.
The screen says "insert DVD." When I do, I hear the DVD player spinning, but there is no change to the screen. I tried an audio CD in the DVD player and it works fine.
So, is there a chance my car's CCC hasn't been updated to read the 2015 DVD? Do I need a 2008 DVD? Help!
Thanks

UPDATE: For posterity, the problem was the 2015 version of the DVD. It was not compatible with my 2008's system. I bought a used 2009 DVD, and it works perfectly. If I recall correctly, the 2011 version is the newest that will work in my car.

You're not putting it in the right slot if the CD is playing. You need to find your DVD player. It will say DVD on the player

Oh, I'm putting it in the DVD slot. No issue with that. What I was trying to convey is that to test the DVD player I put a music CD in the DVD player, and the DVD drive played the music just fine. Thanks though. I wish it was that easy!

In that case, your DVD player is too outdated to read the newer DVD but it doesn't make sense because PN: 65902365699 (2015-1) is supposed to work if that's what you got.

That would be helpful for sure. I'm in the middle of nowhere. BMWs are few and far between. So, that's realistically not going to happen. I was hoping someone here could tell me how to check to see if my software version in the car is compatible with the DVDs I have.

The DVD is the update. You could flash it since the DVD is not updating it but I don't see that helping since it will not read the DVD.
