The 550i I would take over the 535i. I would rather have a V8 at higher speeds then a turbo. A V8 will run cooler and its don't have to worry about lag. I know there isn't much lag, but still...it's a turbo.

The 2003 540i sport package was the same in previous years, but 2003 was the final year and they had to keep the demand up.

I agree. I remember the 03 E39 540i Sport was I believe $3,300 which was at least double.

whistle : My 528 xi (deal : invoice + $$$$)
Base price is up by $800/- (I selected auto transmission at no cost = advantage)
Premium Pkg went up by $ 300/- and ACC went up by $200/-
Sport pkg and Cold weather Pkg = NO change
I hope there is no change in price for other options and items ?
I-pod $ 400/- ( Not sure to have it or drop, saves $350-400)
Waiting eagerly for invoice prices press release !
What deal were you able to make over invoice, if you don't mind saying? My deal was $900 over, which I thought was pretty fair, but it would be good to know what others are paying.

Also, does anyone have any info on the 677 premium sound option--is it just L7 or is it L7 plus a changer? Usually if it includes a changer, it is classified as a ZPS. Any price info on this 677 option?

Thanks.

No wonder all you guys west of Ellis Island all drive 540/545/550 , there almost for free when compared to Euro prices and all the heavy tax loaded on in case you might order some toys on your car. 5 series ......... 330D in ireland costs ?70,000 basic.

The best deal I was able to arrange was $1000 off the window price. You would have thought I was asking the dealership for a free car.

No, that was the last year for the E39 5 Series and on the 540i Sport in the US they had an ///M Sport Package, similar to what is now the new 550i Sport.

Essex BMW, Bloomfield, NJ. My rep was Bob Miller, good guy, been selling BMWs a long time. It's the second BMW I bought from him so I don't know if I got some kind of friendly discount. Someone on another post said they knew of someone getting $500 over invoice--no confirmation on that though.
