Since i'm the first owner in montreal with the lci 550i, im having some problems with my i-pod, i went to future shop to ask them for the auxilarary cable and the USB cable to connect in the car. they just sold the auxilarary cable and said the one that comes with the i-pod is the one i'm looking for. Wrong, the i-pod interface still doesnt appear and all can hear now is the sound. Can anyone help me with this problem? On the 2004 545i there was a heated steering wheel, now in the lci there isnt??????? Why did they decide to take away that option( I know there is supposed to be one, from the picture in the owners manual) but i can find the button.

Heated steering wheel should be part of the Cold Weather Package (not sure if you have that package up there). The button is hidden on the lefthand side of the steering wheel.

There is a specific iPOD interface cable that comes with the iPOD/USB interface that is included FREE with the purchase of that option. You need this specific cable for iPODs.

I suspect you'll need the BMW 'approved' iPod connector cable. In the UK it's not included with the 6FL option.

I purchased one (part number 61.12.0.422.099) and it works excellently. It's a Y-cable with a iPod dock connector at one end and USB + 1.5mm jack plug (headphone) at the other.

When I select AUX-IN via iDrive I can view everything on the iPod as you'd see it through the iPod itself (playlists, artists, albums etc). It's quick to use and the sound quality is as good as a CD or DAB radio.

If you got the sport pacjage the heating steering wheel may not be available. Not sure - can anyone confirm? When I got my 2004 E39 with sport package, the heated steering wheel was not available becasue the M sport steering wheel was not compatable.

Heated steering wheel is part of the Cold Weather Package, with or without Sport Package in 07's and 08's. I don't know when it became available with the Sport Package before that.

Heated Steering Wheel will be available as a stand alone option on M5's starting with June production.

Having had both, I can answer this question.

A heated steering wheel is available with the sport package.

A heated steering wheel is not available with the ///M steering wheel that comes with the ///MSport package.
