Couple of quick notes - I have now owned a 2008 535i w/Sport, a 2008 E90 M3 and just picked up my 2008 550i on Friday. I know that there is plenty of wasted server space on here discussing 550i vs. 535i but I have to be honest - neither is better than the other. They are simply different vehicles. I feel like the 550i is the perfect blend of the 535i and the M3. Throaty V8 sound, lots of room, aggressive styling and super comfortable. To be honest, I wasn't looking for a 550. I had started searching for another 535 but couldn't find any of my ideal color/option combos and stumbled upon this 550i. I can sum up my experience already with three words - I love it!
Pros
- Fast
- Aggressive looking
- Extremely comfortable
- Surprisingly quiet
- Build quality is amazing
- Decent gas mileage for a top shelf sports sedan
- L7 blows away Premium Sound in the M3
Cons
- I had forgotten about the sudden lurch in first gear on occasion. It is in the 550 as well. I have had both AT transmissions in the E60 line now (sport auto and regular steptronic auto) and both do it.
- Can't think of anything else that really stands out.
Here are some pics that I took of her today. Prior to the pics, I washed it with Dawn, then with Zaino car wash. Gave car a complete clay bar treatment and then 3 coats of Z-2, followed by vacuuming and wiping down every leather surface inside. Did windows in and out and ended by a coat of Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal. I love Alpine White in a BMW. Enjoy!

Do you still love you 2008 550i?
I am still up in the air on 2007 vs. 2008. I can get an amazing deal on a 2007 but I love all of the changes on the 2008. But it will be 6-8k more :-/ Is it worth it?

Great looking car and great photos. Thanks for sharing.

My Ride: G30 M550i
Model Year: 2018
Assuming the OP will eventually check in, I have to say, in a purely biased way, that's one beautiful car! It even has the sport auto!
Speaking of your issue with the SAT and the first gear "lurch", my car did that once in a while and the dealer updated some software and I believe it fixed it. You may want to see about an update to hopefully take care of your only real "con" with the car...
