2008 535xi axle replacement?
Hey guys just recently picked up a 2008 535xi. It currently needs a front right ( passenger ) side axle. I'm having a hard time sourcing the part, and the dealer wants $900+ for a new one ( special order by the way). I've been able to find front axles for other e60 x drive models ( 525xi, 530xi etc) that look the same in pictures but I'm unsure if it's actually the same part as a 535xi. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with this? Thanks

Go to realoem.com and see what other vehicles (if any) share the part or if the same part has multiple part numbers.
Might be used on one of those other vehicles you mention. PS - I looked and it said part number 31607570274 is used on

I had an E53 X5 at one time with torn outer CV boots, started investigation and in the forum many people just replace the entire axle with the Chinese made Napa/Pep-boys (every local auto part stores these) and most of them last 3-4 years without issues.
That something you may want to check out. GL |

31607570274 is your part number which is used on other vehicles. They are $900 on most sites but there is a BMW shop that sells them for $775 (BMW of Minnesota) on ebay What is wrong with the axle. If it is repairable it will only cost you around $120.

Hey guys thanks for the info. Previous owner apparently hit a "pothole" and the roller in the axle is broken. I took it to a repair shop and was quoted $350+shipping to repair.
I found it for $330 shipped from Vines automotive in Alabama and ordered it on Tuesday. But for whatever reason they're saying it's shipped, yet can't give me a tracking number because apparently the shipper won't call them back with it? ( You get a receipt with the number when you ship something) and they've been giving me the run around since Tuesday about it. It's now Friday, and I've been on the phone with them multiple times each day since I placed the order. They were very quick to charge my card by the way. I'm just assuming they took my money and didn't have the part, but I'm going to remain optimistic and assume that's not the case! |
Here is information from another forum on that company. I hope it works out well.

Looks like I've made a mistake :o
Giving them a call Monday, if they don't provide me with a tracking number/proof of shipment by the end of the day I'm going to cancel my order and request a refund. They actually came recommended from a very reputable shop:think: In the meantime.... Anyone parting out an e60 xi? B) |
