sounds like you might have a bad cylinder. is your dealer scanning for codes? have they ran a full diagnostic. had a similar issue myself with my 08 535i. dealer had to replace to cylinders

Did you mean cylinder sleeve (assuming these engines have them)? You can't replace a cylinder without replacing the entire engine block. Even replacing a cylinder sleeve would require major surgery. I had a similar situation and only had two injectors replaced to fix it.

At 65K if you didnt/dealer didnt replace these VERY SOON:
-spark plugs
-coils
-injectors

I'd say do the first two ASAP. If the problem isnt resolved then do the injectors. You should be able to acquire all of these parts for less than $1000. They're not difficult to install either. Anyone with some intermediate experience should be able to do it. Let us know.

The MSD80 ECU in your 535i stores all kinds of detailed error information in its History even without the CEL on; cause of misfire, exact mileage when it happened, how often it happened, engine RPM, engine temp., coolant temp, engine load, actual speed, etc., etc. Go to another dealer or an indy to get the real story.

Hey sorry to hear. With the correct diagnosis software (not just a code reader) you can test each coil/plug and you can test each injector. The injectors are something I would definitely save for last. First Tell us what codes are being stored in INFORMATION MEMORY and then we can pinpoint these. If the car is a CPO there's nothing to worry about, let the dealer worry about it. It's pretty simple....

1) get codes
2) diagnose properly
3) fix

I'm not sure if the car had a tune up. That is something I will start with first. The only thing dealer told me is they ran a full scan one of the cylinders misfired a few times .
I don't have the proper scan setup what setup should I use ?? Was told there is a USB cable and program where could I get this what is it called ??? Thanks for all the help!

Just went through this with my 08 535. Intermittent misfire with no lights on. The dealer was able to measure all the pressures and all of that stuff and was all normal. They recommended cleaning the valves by "walnut blasting" them. I bit the bullet and payed $500 for them to do it, and I was skeptical, but I have to say, after they did it, misfire gone, and she runs like a new car.
