Right side of the car. Look down. Large gauge bare braided strap. Over time the strap gets green-ish tinted and can start to become a poor ground. I've seen cases where an ohm-meter says all is fine, but the ohm-meter isn't asking for a lot of current. If the strap is on it's way out or completely broken (unusual), you can get all sorts of electrical issues with the larger consumers such as the starter.

If you have an xi, the strap is bolted to the right side half shaft housing. If you have a RWD, it is bolted to someplace under the engine. It runs to the fender wall just aft of the right wheel and is bolted to the inside of the fender.

A test that has been used is to take a jumper cable and hook one end to the negative jumper terminal over on the left side in the engine bay and the other side other same cable conductor to some metal part of the engine. Rock the jumper cable jaws back and forth to but into the metal for a better connection. This essentially becomes a ground strap.

I replaced mine proactively a few years ago. It was green-ish and rigid. It wasn't causing issues yet.

Now it's running rough at 2-3k rpm any reason why? Not smooth almost stutters. Again new fuel pump control relay and hpfp and lpfp.

Replaced it and it's working well. A little stutter at 2-3 rpm in third.

So it's running a lot better? Run it for a couple hundred and report back. You may have had a compound issue

What type of fuel do you use? Have you run SeaFoam through it lately?

Yes, no paranoia on the road. Will do thanks for the advice.
What's a compound issue? Yes the stutter as described is a jump in rpms when smooth gas is applied.

No I will most likely get new spark plugs and replace the air filter. No seafoam after replacing the pumps, filter, and fuel pump control unit. What could cause a stutter like it jumps when smooth gas is applied. Any ideas?

More than one issue that you're having at the same time. The module may have fixed the stalling issue but now you may have a spark or air issue. If it jumps maybe a transmission or crank sensor issue. Won't know exactly until a code pops up unless you're handy with a scan tool reading live data.
