Default 2008 535i fuel pump after replacement

Hello everyone,

I own a 2008 535i that I'm having a few issues with. Originally It began with a fuel pump issue and stalling. After disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it the car would start up. A mechanic replaced both fuel pumps and fuel filter. Today while driving home from the store the car stalled and didn't start until I disconnected the battery and reconnected. I have the car posted for about 5500 k with only 84,000 original miles. I want to sell the car and I don't know what to do any advice? After changing the HPFP, LPFP, and filter I didn't expect it to do that. What else can my trusty mechanic look at. The LPFP is Bosch and the HPFP is OEM from EBAY. I'm pretty handy myself and I know electrical schematics and other basic electrical work and other engineering type of work. Is this something that I could do myself? I almost think the thing is cursed lol.

Sounds like your mechanic was just throwing parts at the problem.

Did he:
  1. Read the BMW DTC codes?
  2. Test the battery?
  3. Check the Charge Histogram?

At that mileage, I wouldn't have even looked at changing any pumps. I would look at the codes which I'm sure your mechanic did. What you're describing sounds like an issue with the EKPM so I'd run tests to isolate the issue.

Where is this part located in the car? I'm having trouble identifying it.

Yes he checked the codes it's all low fuel pressure.
The battery was not tested, I will do this today.

On the same side as the fuse box in the trunk. Part sits closer towards the back seat behind the beauty cover

Great I took a look at it today and checked the battery. Not the battery. Looks like an easy fix for the ECU part. I'm going to buy an OEM one and hope for no programming.
