I have a 2008 528i and recently when I close the trunk it pops right back open. I can hear the actuator working but was told that it was most likely my problem so I replaced it today and it does the same thing still ($86.00 down the drain).
Any ideas?
Thanks for the help.

Do you have comfort access?

On the 1% chance, did you drop your other key in the trunk. It is supposed to re-open if a FOB with Comfort Access is left inside. Slim chance but you never know. My wife left her key in her purse in the trunk and the trunk would not close. Except for one time when she locked the key in and it wouldn't open but thats another story.

There are a couple of round black bumper\stops at the bottom of the trunk lid. Right where the lid meets the rear bumper area. Turn those in and out to adjust. My guess is to turn it in more (clockwise). Maybe it's stopping the lid too soon for the trunk to latch. See if that helps.

Most likely, a wire has broken in the wire harness bundle where it enters the right trunk lid hinge. The broken wire is preventing the latch actuator from resetting. Pull the molded rubber plug that holds the wire bundle in the end of the hinge, remove the wire wrapping where the wires make a sharp bend into the hinge and inspect all the wires. Most likely you will find one or more broken wires and or bare wires. Repair the harness and bend the wires in a new location before reinserting plug into end of hinge.
