2008 528i Problems (Canada)
#1
I bought (in Canada -- Woodbridge, Ontario) a 2008 528i with Sports package, Premium Package and Nav. This is my first BMW and it has not been the Ultimate Driving Machine. I have owned a Nissan Maxima, currently own a Acura TL Type S (2001) and Mercedes Benz GL450 (2008). However my BMW had the following problems: increased battery discharge notice, which made BMW Canada keep my car for 29 days, AFTER changing the battery, and then AFTER changing something on the battery terminal. It went to the dealer 4 times. Now I have the car back, and at a red light (low RPM) the car idles with vibration. I have driven many cars: Honda, Acura, Subaru, Mazda, GM, Nissan, Mercedes, Lexus...NONE OF THEM HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS....THEY HAD NO PROBLEMS. I have called BMW Canada, and yes they have fixed the battery discharge problem, but this new idling problem hasn't even been brought to their attention. BMW Canada has -- after much "negotiation" -- offerrred to give me 2 months of finance payments back. I feel embarassed that I STILL have problems with the car. What should I do? Please help!

I don't know how your "complaining" skills are, but if I were you, I would stand my ground, complain and bitch at the dealership. Take a shop foreman for a ride, and explain to him problems you are having. Tell him how dissapointed you are with a car that is worth $XXXXX.XX and tell him that you are not willing to put up with this BS. Furthermore, just because you bought a 5 series, you are entitled to a loaner everytime (unless your dealership is overbooked).

Since you mention Woodbridge - I am assuming you are refering to Maranello. These guys are one of the best BMW dealers in the GTA. Make sure you get their Dealer Principal engaged in your issues. They have done right by me a few times - which is FAR better than some of the other GTA dealerships.

The 29 days stall is simply criminal and 4 dealer visits sound like a joke.
Contact BMW Canada or BMW NA if nothing else helps!

I just got the car back and am very impressed....It drives like a beast! No problems yet, but still a little bit of vibration that only I seem to notice. Maybe my standards are way too high!
