Your KGM that's behind the glove compartment is having an internal fault causing all the other issues. Should be a black long box with maybe 6 plugs. Need to buy a used one and code it

Could you explain the process of "coding" it? Is the Foxwell capable of doing this? Thank you for your help.

No you'll need BMW software tools installed on a laptop and a K +DCAN cable or you can install it and tow the car to a BMW Indy shop and have them code it in but be sure they will perform it for you. Hopefully a VIN change is all you need because anything else you'll need an ICOM

I already have donor modules consisting of KGM, DME, CAS and key fob switch. All from same car. I don't have key fob from donor. Could I swap the modules and get a key fob made for these donor modules? Would I still have to get these coded or programmed?

At this time you only need the KGM unless you know something I don't. I don't see why you would need the CAS and DME. Swap out KGM, code VIN and program to default. Clear the codes and see what you got.

You do not have the means to deal with the CAS or DME at this time. It's a lot more in depth than what you're going to go through with just replacing the KGM.

I am overthinking this complicated issue. I'm throwing in the towel and carrying it to the shop! Thank you for all your help! You have been a trooper to this "wanna be" mechanic.

Yeah, few people realize how complicated BMWs are, I mean there's 30+ modules and tons of wiring. If I have to pay more for the equipment to do the programming, I'll just pay someone to do it. You can teach yourself but if you don't have to use the knowledge much, it's really not worth it.

Was anything done to clear the codes? Instead of going back to see what was talked about previously I'm starting over. Listing from the first thing I see it is to the last

- checked alternator voltage while running to ensure it's not over or under charging

- check to see if battery is good

-checked ground wiring in engine bay (should be 3 points)

- check positive wire from the battery to the front for corrosion (follow it and there should be 2 mounting points center of trunk and under car)

- check modules in trunk (MPM) and in fan box for connector corrosion and water damage.

Other than this you will need to put a computer on it with ISTA and INPA.
