By the way....does the X5 steering wheel in this picture look even thicker than the SMG heated steering wheel on the E60?
It also looks like there are more buttons on the dash than our E60's....perhaps more direct buttons for the radio and the climate control???

Yes, more buttons on the dash but I can already hear the complaints about how they are blocked by the water bottles...
Do you think the optional dash-mounted laptop can withstand the cornering g-forces?

Looks like more A/C vents on sides. With the weather we have been enduring here, that would be welcomed.

It's hard to tell for sure but I think the wheel looks to be about the same thickness as my heated SMG wheel.

LOL....Yeah I can hear the complaints about the cupholder locations as well, but I can also hear a "it's all Bangle's fault" comment afterwards.
The new E70 is supposed to be the first BMW model with the new AFS dash (Active Friction Surface)......They use the same sensors and software as the ARS and Dynamic Drive to trigger little micro fingers that protrude from the dash surface to hold laptops (or anything else) in place when cornering hard.

My Ride: 2010 523i. Alpine white, dakota leather, 8 speed auto, VDC, bluetooth, HID lights, parking sensors, sport seats, black window trim, tinted rear windows

2009 Ford S-Max 2.5T
I'd wager that the shifter photos were leaked by BMW to gauge customer response to the new shift knob. No way would someone get that detailed a shot of the interior, and in such a complete state, and not get an exterior shot.
