2007 smg 550i shifting
So I talked to a guy at the edealership about my 550i smg shifting with a clunk kind of a sound. Is this normal? He said it is meant to be driven hard which will reduce the intensity of the sound? Anyone have the same model, and if so how does your shift and sound when you are driving easy?

If it's anything like my 2004 545, you don't have to drive it hard to make it smooth, but it does take some practice. I think your dealership guy is an idiot.
I assume you're actually doing the shifting yourself, rather than using the pseudo-auto mode?
It's best if you do all the down-shifts yourself, as opposed to waiting for it to shift itself. If you don't, you'll wind up between gears when you didn't want to be, then you mash the gas and there's a big clunk when it engages.

I agree. My 550 is the same way. Takes a little finess to get it to shift smoothly when its not floored or even when downshifting to pass a car.
