I've been reading a few posts in several different blogs regarding the different offsets & tire sizes for certain wheels. The more research I do, the more confusing it seems to get. I just need simple advice for the following question:

My car: 2007 BMW 530i
I want: 19" BMW OEM M166 wheels

My question: what M166 offset wheels (17 or 28) & what size tires (front & rear) do I need to buy in order to install them as painlessly as possible.

Thank you.

HI! I have M166 with 28 offset. Front is 245/35/19 and rear is 285/30/19 with 12mm spacer. So far no rubbing.

you can get the rears with offset ET17, which are the same as made for the M6. the rears with ET17 is almost the same as the rears with ET28 with running a 12mm spacer that puts the offset to ET16.

i think the ideal tire size is to use the same size tires as on the 172 wheels on the 550.

245/35-19 (Front)

275/30-19 (Rear)

you can use either offset wheels.
the m5 offset wheels are easier to find, and look nicer with spacers.

I'm still confused: if I go with M6 offset in the rear ET17, is the front wheel offset going to be ET12 OR ET17?

the front m5 wheel offsets are all the same...cant remember what the number is. and you can use either m5 or m6 offset in the rear. but the m5 wheels with m5 offsets will look better with spacers, so that the wheels get pushed out a little to give a more flush look.

and most m5 wheels out there are m5 offset.

I'm not surprised that you are still confused !

Here are the facts for the 166M rims:-

M5 fitment ,Front ET12 ,Rear ET28
M6 fitment ,Front ET12 ,Rear ET17

The correct tyre sizes have been given for your car ,i.e. Front 245/35R19
Rear 275/30R19
