Has anyone heard of a 550i recall for rear bushings? My dealer advised me that it may cause a delay in the delivery of my car. Please advise...

Thanks!

There was a lot of noise about that a few weeks back. Try a search and see what the outcome was. I do know that a few people waited extra weeks for their car to get delivered b/c the part was being shipped from Germany. Don't know if it's still the case.

My SA claims that mine will not be delayed and that there is no recall. His just arrived last week and it took approx. 4 weeks including installation of the aero kit at the VPC. Not bad. Only if I got that kind of service.

Mine was 3 weeks at the NJ VPC for the Aero Kit. I picked my car up on Saturday. I had 2 minor paint defects in the aero kit that the dealer will have to repaint. You can tell that the factory does a much better job at painting than the VPC. They shouldn't have let mine out of the VPC with a bump in the paint like mine had on the side skirt. My dealer tryed buffing the spot down but hit the white plastic of the aero piece. I think they will have to repaint the entire piece. Its no biggie to me cause the aero kit was not factory painted from the beginning. Now if they had to repaint the metal part of the car, that would be a different matter.

BTW I love the car and I owe pics I know...

Thanks!

I recently took delivery of my 550i (6/15). I asked the quesiton in May about the recall. It effected many 5 series being delivered to the states. It was only for a select group of vehicles built in the Feb-Mar time frame. Mine was unaffected since the correction was made for all vehicles built from April on. The VPCs were doing the bushing replacements. They got backed up for a while but the backlog was caught up in May. My 550i with M Aero kit install went through the west coast VPC in under 5 days! Unless there is a new recall I suspect yours should have no delay for a recall. This is old news.
