Hi All,

Sorry for such a stupid question but Are the US dealers now selling 2006 model year cars? :)) :)) When does the new model year start for BMW?

They are taking orders for 2006 models (March build date) for the 525, 530 series E60s. 545 remains a 05 model until they choose to change, normally week one of September. BMW states in all brochures they reserve the right to change model year when they feel like it, can run more or less than a 12 month period, and they can have concurrent vehicle production with different model years.

The US dealers tell you they are selling the MY06, what is still an 05. But inside the US everybody seems to think it's 06 and referrs to it as an 06, what it isn't.

AFAIK, BMW model years start from September every year, therefore if you order a car now and it's build date is before the summer break, it will be a 2005 MY car.

Correct, Iceman?

For all intents and purposes, it is a 2006 vehicle including BMWNA.

This matters in terms of resale value and when selling the car in the future.

BMW, yes.
But in the US they see it in a different way and think it's an 06. Just some marketing BS, but that's how they see it, even though it is an 05.
