Does anyone know if there are any other differences between the 2006 and 2005 other than the 2006 is more accurate? Has it got different software or something?

Since you mention accuracy, I have found that I only really need to upgrade to a new disc every 2~3 years... My current map DVD is now 3 years old and it has only recently started to show its weaknesses... roads that have changed and whatnot. If my lease weren't up in a month, I would be springing for a new one right about now...

You can buy the updated disk from the parts department at the dealer or, I think you might be able to buy them directly from NavTeQ.

Click the following link for information from NavTeq:

I checked NavTeq and it seems that 2005.2 is the most recent map DVD for the E60.

That's correct. I was mistaken in thinking that the 2006 ver 1 was available...getting ahead of myself.

I don't know for sure, but it seems that on the NavTeq page the only available products are navigation CDs not DVDs.

Are you sure there's no 2006-1 DVD?

Make sure that you get the right version for your car. There two versions. You should to your BMW Parts Dept before ordering.
