You really can't compare the 2 cars. One is an M Division car. They are simply in a league of their own.
M5 ownership is NOT cheap though. They are very thirsty when it comes to petrol and oil, and servicing isn't cheap either. Replacement wear and tear paerts, are not cheap. Tires, brakes and so on...
If I were choosing, it would be a clear win for the M5 hands down, but it depends on what you are after. If you are after a 2 door coupe that is a quick car, then buy the 650i. They are BRILLIANT cars, and the 5.0 V8 in them is a lovely engine.
However, if you're looking for a practical 4 door saloon that will be a nice comfortable daily drive to and from the office, and to take people out, and also a car that is an absolute beast, then the M5 is the car for you!
The 650i is fast, but the M5 is brutally quick. I've owned mine now for coming up to 2 years, and considering I've done NOTHING to it to enhance performance or looks (beside privacy glass), I am in no way bored of the car, and you do get accustomed to the running costs. If you drive it carefully, then it will return close to 17mpg (UK) around town. If you drive with a rather heavy foot, then don't expect much more than 14mpg (UK) around town, and on a run, I've had mine up to 24.7mpg (UK) which impressed me! I usually get around 160 miles to a full tank of V Power around town. If i'm doing a daily commute to London to my offices, then I MAY see 230 miles out of a tank. I don't care though! I own an M5, and THAT is ALL that matters!!
The 5.0l in the 6 Series, is more fuel efficient, but not by a lot from what I've heard!
Either way you decide to go, you will have yourself an awesome car! M5 gets my vote though buddy!
Happy buying!!

He lives in Costa Rica.
i think M5 is a fantastic car, but still it is a 4 door sedan..
unless if you planning to take the car for a track day one day, then it is M5 to go
but for driving around city and club hopping, 6series is definately a go lol
personally i would go towards the 650.. nothing beat the looks of 2 doors european sports car..
for now i am still pampering my humble 520i.. huhu

Wow thanks m8, In Costa Rica it really doesn't matter, I'll buy the parts stateside and ship em over, car parts are crazy expensive here, so I think I'm going with the M5, I actually think it's prettier than the 650i...
