Phill, you are right. The same goes for Singapore where I live. The new 2006 E60 with R6 engine will be available from Jun this year.

[quote name='anlauf' date='Jan 24 2005, 09:40 PM']I explained last week that "a San Diego" dealer pulled up the MY2006 E60 order sheet for an 530i (USA spec) on the BMW Intranet.? This document clearly stated that the MY2006 production starts March 2005.

It made no mention of the engine change...but then it's the order sheet and this detail is not included.

It specifically shows that Active steering is a stand alone option and that the Sport package no longer includes it.

NASCA leather and anthrocite headliner are Priority 1 options.

The Comfort Access was documented for Sept 05 production.

If I could find the time I'd scan the darn document....just ask for it when you are in a dealership....stop the guessing, let's get our facts correct.

Effective April Production,? 530s and 525s are labeled as MY2006.? They have the new engines and will arrive in showrooms at the tail end of the summer.

From reading this thread, it seems like the new engines are going into cars produced in March or April of 2005. If true, why would it take until the end of summer to arrive in showrooms? Isn't that a bit long between production and arrival?

For what it's worth, I found this news article on GCF from 12/2004 that announces that the new engines will be entering the market in March 2005 along with xDrive. According to the article, the car was supposed to debut at the Detroit auto show. Did it?

I'm curious about this because a friend is ready to order a new 525i (for late March delivery) and would be willing to wait a month or so if he could get the new engines...

I guess their allocation will take July or early August to get on the lots.

Thanks, Alohalc.

With the information (or lack thereof) regarding the MY06 530i, I am inclined towards getting a '05 545i with Active Steering and GPS. Will contact the dealerships here to strike a good deal. Instant Gratification, they say.

My Ride: 2010 Lexus HS 250h...looking to get a 2011 535xi
Default

I currently have a 2004 Acura TL and am looking to trade it in on a '06 530xi.

According to my SA, I was told May production for June-July delivery. (He hasn't yet received anything official yet, so I am still anxiously awaiting placing my order...)

Other than the engine and AWD (xi) availability, has anyone heard about any other changes for MY 2006? (Even the small things I find fascinating.)

At roadfly.com someone posted that the Nav system is being improved. That's about all I've heard.

this is what he said in the e-mail he sent me when i asked him how it is that the 06 has already started. finds out there was some confusion.

Hope this clears all confusions, sorry
