Glove box lock stuck won’t open anymore
So for some time now it was touch and go to open my glove box and finally it stayed closed, no way it would open anymore.
So after some googling I assumed the mechanism was broke so I order the two parts, 51168163017, the black inner locking part and the outer beige piece #51169126662, both only around $15 each figured needed to have the parts handy if I had to break something and then the glove box would be hanging open(kinda of hindering my passenger)....
Anyway today was fixing day and decided to remove the dash trim part covering the AC outlets on the off chance I could get to the inner mechanism instead of prying the lid off with brute force, to get to the lock. (If you don’t know how check one of Roskinc's aux install videos)
Sure enough you could see the the locking tabs and just push a screwdriver to it and voila open was the glove box. Then I noticed the black inner part was loose there are two screws holding it together and once tightened all is good again.....
The second pic is the view thru the hole above the glove compartment created after removing the dash trim, if you look you can see one of the two lock tabs.
Just a hint for all,of you to,keep an eye on to prevent this from happening.....check those two screws!!
BTW... Anyone need these parts let me know, give you a good deal....LOL
