2006 550i - Automatic Angel Eyes??
Hey guys -
Still getting used to the 550i... Is there any way to make the angel eye headlight mode the automatic daily set-up for the headlights? Or do I just have to turn them on manually?

At least for my 2008, if you turn the daytime running lights option on, the angel eye's will always be on with the car (as well as the rear lights) when it's on.

I was told that I need to change the LM module to turn the AE automaticity when you start the car and it would cost $250. I get used to turn it on manually but not fun sometimes. Do someone know cheaper way to make them automatic. What do you mean by rewire them? Do you have link to the DIY how to do it?

There is at least already a thread that covered the re-wire hack.
The logic is simple, use something in your car that when you turn the key for example the cigarette lighter that will turn the AE using a relay.
So everytime you start the car the AE light up and when you shutdown the car the AE turn off ... so less likely you'll leave the parking light on and drain the battery.
Of course swappin' to the new LM2 is much better not only you get DRL menu but also Welcome Light (among other things) like the newer LCI model.

The route I went is I bought a new LM2 and had nomis_nehc code it in. Now I have AE welcome lights and AE as DRL.
A workaround is drive around with the parking lights on and your AE will be DRL. Don't laugh, that's what I used to do. LOL!
In case you're interested here's a thread to do AE welcome lights on a pre-LCI without programming:
